We were really determined to put together this special issue of tattoo designs by Luca Tarlazzi and in fact I even had to persuade the designer to agree. Luca felt rather reticent about it because some of the fairy pictures shown here were strongly influenced by the images in the Fairy book by the great illustrators Brian Froud and Alan Lee. «That is true», I replied, «but who can help being influenced by two such maestros? Yet it is also true that most of the subjects in this collection are original - I personally supplied you with many sources and ideas for situations which you then created exactly as they were described - and many more are designs I saw you conjure up from nothing». 

We think this is one of the best works you’ll ever find on this theme. That’s why I insisted on publishing it. What do you think?
